I'm a big time Ehiem Pimp. I have Ehiem canister filters & compact pumps powering my 9 planted tanks. I even have an Aquastyle tank in my inventory. As an Ehiem supporter, chopping up & recycling spare Ehiem parts is kinda sacrilege.
Well, that's what I did. I have an Ehiem 2211 powering a ADA 60F tank that has been running for 2 yrs & changes in tank water flow needed to be done. I repositioned the intake & outflow mini violet glass pipes from the back wall to the left side. In doing so, I had to re plumb the intake & output lines.
In the original setup, the long intake line ran across the back wall behind the tank & had to be supported w/ hangers. There was also some tube kinking to the canister intake connector. These were compounding issues that contributed for the need to change pipe position.
With the change in pipe positions, the routing of the both lines would require a couple of bends in tighter spacing. The need for elbows in different diameters became a problem. I use glass pipes in my setups so, the supplied Ehiem pipes are unused. I know that Ehiem makes elbows but cost, time & availability were issues. Utilizing the intake & output pipes by cutting & splicing into the new configuration, solved these problems & made for a smooth & clean plumbing solution.
