doubling up panes of glass for a thicker panel

I do not have 12mm glass... though I have a decent amount of 6mm. Can i double this up to make a 5-6ft panel? will the strength be the same as regular 12mm?

If you are talking about making laminated glass its not really a DIY project, usually this is done with heat. If you manage to get the 2 pieces of glass completely fused I would guess that it would hold up but I'm betting that you will have lots of bubbles between the glass. I would think you would need a press to be able to accomplish this and all in all I don't see it as viable on large pieces of glass. But if you do attempt it I would love to see the process and results.

If you're not talking about laminating then you'll have to get the edges completely sealed with a vacuum between the glass, like a dual pane window. Otherwise, the glass will condensate between the panes.
