Can I get results from DIY CO2?
I've got a 60G tank. This hobby is already out of hand (7 aquariums), so I'm not ready to drop $200 on a pressurized co2 setup. I thought I'd give diy co2 a shot, but the results haven't been great. The ph test says I've gone from 3ppm to maybe 5ppm. I'm just running a 2L of regular red star baking yeast, and 2 cups sugar. Getting about 1bps, which I hear is about as good as I can expect. It passes through an air stone and into a power head. Not only have I got alot of water, but I'm also running a HOB, which doesn't help matters. I've got the water level as high as possible to cut down on surface disturbance. Is this a lost cause? I bought same champagne yeast because I heard it helps. I'll try it next. Is it possible by adding 2 or 3 bottles with a better diffuser I could get decent results?
