Odd shaped acrylic build; is 1/4 enough?

I've got a very old Bench grinder stand that was built by my grandfather, I've used it to hold a 10g tank before but want something larger. I want to build a custom acrylic tank for it as practice before I commit to building the 250+ gallon acrylic tank for my new home. My maximum base dimensions are 20x12 and I'm thinking of building it 32" high. I know this is an oddball size and it should be a little over 30g. Will 1/4" acrylic be enough? The calculators I've seen don't make much sense, they call for 1/2" thick on this 30g tank, yet also say 1/2" thick is needed for my 250+ gallon I am building.

In an engineering standpoint the height is why it is saying thicker. As you build an aquarium up in increases pressure on the sides vs building an aquarium long or wide.

Here is a simple picture of the force.
