Help, leaking filter :(

So I made a canister filter following the directions in a video by Joey the king of diy on youtube. Its a pvc tube with a treaded end cap fitting. My problem is that I forgot that the end cap needs a lip for the gasket. So I'm stuck with what you see in the picture. I have three options, I can buy the right one and remake the end, seal it with silicone like I did the other side and forget about ever opening it to clean, or working with what I have. I tried using one of those flat rubberbands and tightening it as hard as I could with wrenches, but it still had a slow drip. So just wondering if anybody has any suggestions? Thx

Teflon tape. It's a pipe thread sealer, just use a thin layer on the thread wrapped in the opposite direction of your threads. It shouldn't bleed anything,it's safe with hydraulics.

MTS? no,I just need one more tank...

Mt and I may be thinking of the threads in different ways??
I think of holding the fitting in my left hand and doing three laps in a clockwise direction.
The result will still be a PITA and only good for U-tube but it should not leak.

Hold the tape still and turn the fitting to wrap it. If you always turn the fitting like you're tightening it, it doesn't matter which way you face anything. Teflon tape is worth a try, but the issue is that those aren't tapered fittings. It doesn't get tight, it just bottoms out so it's not made for any kind of pressure.
