Just built a Co2 reactor from the article on this website... except for one thing..the foam. What kind of foam? Eggcrate? Any suggestions appreciated!

Ideally you want to use an open cell foam such as is used for filters. You should be able to go to your lfs and find replacement cartridges for certain filters made of it.

egg crate is not a foam...its plastic squares connected to each other

True BUT really false..... Egg crate is both. Most fish people think of it as the square lighting grid, but Egg crate foam is a very common in packaging materials, bed mats, etc. It is what the foam with the little fingers sticking up -- Looks like an egg crate!

The foam that you want to use would be the course filter foam from a filter. If you have a place near you that sells aquaclear filters, a replacement "foam filter insert" out of a 20/Mini or a 30/150 would be all that you should need. They are square/rectangular blocks, trim it into an octagon and it should be ideal for your application
