DIY Ombre Sky Aquarium Background

Hi all! I decided to dabble in a bit of painting. I wanted to create an ombre-style sky background for my aquarium. By no means, do I claim to be a painter, but I'm so happily surprised how well it turned out - especially this being my very first and only try.

After doing a bit of research, I learned it would be virtually impossible to paint ombre line free and streak free on glass. I stumbled upon on a roll of craft compressed foam, at the craft store, Michaels ($6.00 w/ coupon). The roll is 36 x 60" (my tank is 29 gal - can make 4 different backgrounds with this size).

Here's a piece, cut to size.

I used Artist's Loft Academic Level 1 acrylic paint in Titanium White and Phthalo Blue. Acrylic paint dries incredibly fast. I also used a 3 inch paint brush. Here's the finished product, currently drying. Due to the dim lighting in the room, the colors look darker than they really are.

Thanks! Still waiting for some imported supplies, but will share as soon as the tank is up.
