replacing the rim of 55g and i chipped it!!!!

OK folks I'm replacing the rim on a 55g. the center brace was broken.

i accidentally made the tiniest chip on the top. smaller than the diameter of a mustard seed.

what will happen? is it still ok to use the tank? or did i blow it?

please advise!

cheers-K

Where is the chip exactly? If it is just the edge, I wouldn't worry about it.

Without Algae, death of mankind would be inevitable.

I think if the bottom of the chipped out place is rounded, and not pointed, and you can't see a crack coming from it, it should be no problem at all. I would use emery cloth or a small sharpening stone to smooth the sharp corner, if there is one, just to prevent cutting someone on it.

thanks for the advice! i needed the peace of mind. there's no crack at all totally rounded and no sharp edge.

I was just so paranoid that even the slightest disturbance to the glass could be dangerous.

thanks again so much hoppy and sewingalot. you're both the best
