DIY Stand Question

I have a small table with 2x2 legs that i want to skin and add a door to the front. I want to use euro style hinges to fully conceal them but was wondering how I would skin the table and which hinges to use.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Euro style hinges require drilling a hole for the cup portion of the hinge, using a forstner bit or other flat bottom bit. And, that hole has to be located accurate to about a sixteenth of an inch or less. If you have the means of doing that, you can look at a catalog, like: http://www.rockler.com/CategoryView.cfm?Cat_ID=55 and pick the one that fits what your situation is. Rockler also sells jigs that make drilling the holes a lot easier.

Here's a much simpler hinge to install: http://www.dlawlesshardware.com/nofafrcohilq.html

If you have the fixtures and drills to install Euro hinges, they are much easier than the simpler one. I use those because I don't want to buy the fixtures, but I find them extremely annoying to get adjusted right.

I like using euro hinges because i think they are stronger with the cup than just screws. I suppose I have to build a face frame to cover up the 2x2 legs and get face frame euro hinges.

Does that sounds like the easiest solution?

That does, but do you have the "equipment" to install a euro hinge?

35mm Forstner bits aren't "cheap" as aren't the "jigs". Especially if it's a one/two use item.

As for the hinges I posted earlier, I have no problem installing them. They come bulk packaged without screws. You just purchase the size you need.

I've never had a door fall off because of screws.

i've used one of those cheap jig kits from either rockler or woodcraft (forgot which store i had bought it from). i can't remember the price, but 10-15 dollars sticks in my mind. it came with the forstner bit and translucent yellow alignment jig. it was easy to use and did it's job.
