Ehiem Install Kit 2 + Loc-Line Mod

A little mod I did a while back and now I am redoing one. I got my hands on a friend's digital camera (for another project) so I decided to share this.

Parts :

-2 Strainers from Mag Drive Pre-filters (Mag 250, 350, 500 & 700)
-1 Eheim Installation Kit Elbow Piece
-1 Loc-Line 1/2" MPT Connector

-1 Piece of 16/22mm Eheim hose or 5/8" hose that fits (over the years I noticed they don't all have the same diameter). Make it long enough to fit the MPT connector threads and the elbow's male slip section
-What ever Loc-Line fittings you want. In my case, just the nozzle

1.

With an exacto (being very carefull) remove the strainer section from the strainers, keeping only the slip "collars".

2.

With a cup of water and a microwave, slip the hose over the install kit's elbow piece. Leave the O-ring in place to ensure a water tight seal.

3.

Place a strainer slip collar over the elbow and hose

4.

Putting the other strainer slip collar over the leftover hose section, with your trusty hot water cup, thread the MPT fitting into the hose. This is a little hard to pull off but with a little patience and elbow grease, it fits.

5.

Screw the fitting all the way in, keeping the collars in place.

Once everything is in place, the whole assembly is strong enough the add and remove the LocLine attachements from the MPT fitting, without using the LocLine pliers.

Hope you enjoyed.

The point is to try to give back to a community that has given me so much info!

Also, it's to gives owners of the Installation Kit more options .

In layman's terms, to have multi-directional filter return with the possibilty of multiple multi-directional outlets instead of a spraybar on the Installation kit 2 using the LocLine product line.

Being the first time I try whip up a wanna-be "guide" for one of my mods, maybe I wasn't clear enough. I'll keep that in mind, if ever I try this again. I guess I was assuming that owners of the installation kit would know exactly what I was talking about and didn't go beyond that.

as far as guides go...youve done a great job...

I jus was unclear as to what you were making...so its a directional jet outlet for a filter return

Get a flare head, also called flat head, and get a gentle fan spray instead of a jet.
