burnt driftwood

Good afternoon, (Melbourne, Australia time)
I'm hoping you may be able to help me out.

I'm going to go for a walk through the bush and find some old dead bits of wood.

am I able to burn them to give me a blacked fire look and then treat as I would any other driftwood and have it safe in a low tech tank?

thanks for taking the time to help me out

Should be fine. I have a burnt piece in my 55 with no issues. Just look at it as free carbon.

+1. It should be fine but chard carbon is not usable by plants like CO2

Should be fine... The charcoal doesn't do anything though, not like filter carbon or added carbon fit plants

It does do something.. It prevents the wood from rotting.
In the old days peers were often build on logs that were burned outside first.
