tech question/modification

i have a 37g 30x12x24ish, not sure about the height,
I have the trim around it, i wish i would have bought a rimless but i didn't...
can I cut the front of the trim off or will it compromise the tank?

If that is an Aqueon tank it is 22 inches high - pretty close to 24 inches. I have a 15 high tank, which I removed the top trim from, but I am not confident that it is safe if filled with water, so I only fill it about half way or less - I use it as a riparium tank. I think the higher a tank is the less comfortable I would be removing the top trim and filling it all the way.

This tank has a center brace, too, which suggests that the glass alone isn't strong enough to hold the water if the rim is removed. I don't think I would ever be comfortable removing the rim on a center braced tank, unless I made a Euro brace to replace the rim.
