Weight of hood?

I am starting my project to build a hood over my 101g tank. It is 60" by 20". I am going to build a hood that will match that and be about a foot and a half tall. Not real sure what it will way, but I am sure it will be more than a couple pounds with the lights, ballast and a very large pieces of 60" x 20" plywood or mdf. That got me thinking about adding that extra weight to the tank and stand. Do I need to be concerned about the glass supporting an extra 20-50 pounds on the top edge. How about the stand. I did reinforce it a little before I put it in, but other than that, it is a regular store bought stand.

No concern. The weight is negligible.

Nope. 50 lbs is pretty much nothing when we're talking about 8 or 9 hundred lbs.

Ok, that is what I thought. Thanks for relieving my concerns.

Where the weight is a problem is when you try to take it off the top of the tank. That tends to be a two person job, not something you want to do once a week for tank cleaning. I gave up on that type of lighting just for that reason.
