Beginner's 1.6 gallon nano, some questions

I recently acquired a vast amount of riccia and glosso from a friend of mine. At first I decided to put the plants in my 5 gallon tank but I don't think the lighting with suffice. Anyways, I went to Petco two days ago and saw these little 1.6 glass tank that I've seen a lot of people on the forums already bought. The dimensions are 8"x6"x8".

Anyways, my questions are:

1) I plan to make a DIY co2 for the tank using the Jell-o (or Nyberg) method but I don't know how much of the ingredients I should put in (Would it be better just to use Excel?).

2) I also plan to use a table light with a compact fluorescent but how much watt is necessary to keep the glosso low (as in carpet-like)?

Thanks for reading this thread
