Fluvals do not cause GW..... It is probly a side effect of a new filter all together. There is quite a bit of bacteria that grows in a filter that helps with ammonia / nitrite converstion. When you replaced your old filter you removed much of that bacteria and left yourself in a position for an amonia spike. Give it some time for the bacteria to colonize in your new filter. I would imagine the problem is probly a bit more in depth then that. Maybe a high fish load and lower plant load?

In the meantime a uvs or a diatom will get rid of your water column bacteria bloom.
