Repost about ecoxotic settings--bright light between program buttons

Sorry for the double post. I'm going to try to delete this from the equipment section.
I just got an ecoxotic e-series for a 27 gallon tank. The light is awesome, much better than the standard florescent I've always used. But I have a gripe. I have my light set to go completely dark at night. However, I have a button programmed for very low light in case I want to check on the tank after lights out. When I switch between the timer setting and the program button the lights come on full blast for a second. They do that again when I "resume" the timer (this time dimming to black). Is there any way to stop this? It disturbs the fish and is rather annoying.

I know this is an old thread, but any chance you found a solution? I've noticed the same thing.

Also, have you found a good way to have 3 automatic settings? I'd like high light, low light, and completely off, but the built-in functionality supports just 2 automatic settings.

Finally, have you noticed that a power outage "confuses" the lights? The settings and time are remembered, but the lights stop adjusting as programmed so you have to hit resume.
