tank cover and lighting options

Hi

I am looking to buy a new tank and am trying to decide whether to go for a standard tank or a braceless open top tank. I would prefer to have a slim pelmet (strip) to go around the top of the tank to hide the water line, and for practical reasons would want to have some sort of cover (perhaps a mesh?) to stop fish jumping out and stop kids throwing things in. I would also like to be able to get any lighting system raised or folded out of the way to allow easy access for maintenance.

Q. If you want to fit a pelmet around the top of a tank, does this mean you have to have a rimmed and braced tank or can you fit a pelmet to a rimless braceless tank?

Q. How is a pelmet fitted to a tank? does it have ledges inside it that sit on the rim of the tank?

Q. If I fitted an open top pelmet to my tank, does this mean that I would have to use a suspended luminaire (e.g by hanging or wall bracket) , or would I still be able to use one of those bar lights that mounts onto the tank?

Q. Do those bar lights fold out the way easily for easy tank maintenance ?

Q. How is the height of a suspended luminaire changed? can it be done quickly to allow easy access for maintenance?

Thanks for any help in advance

Paul
