It is the Age of Aquarius afterall...
Looks like I am not the only newbie! Like others, I have been lurking and finally decided to make an account!
Its been a while since I have joined a forum and this one seems really helpful and supportive.
My background with fish started when my dad turned my old bedroom into his fish room (post divorce) and would let me sleep in there at night when I visited.
I loved it and it helped me and my dad bond more. He used to breed peacock cichlids and discus. Of course I demanded my own breeding set up so I got a tank of guppies and some breeder baskets. That was a decade or so ago and both of us have moved on to other hobbies, but with current events as they are, I found myself with extra time and money and longing for a hole in which to stick my head.
After watching videos on bettas, shrimp, and planted tanks for about a week, my boyfriend got curious too. So within two weeks we have two 5.5 gal, one 20 gal and one 40 gal on the way. We are already playing the game "what tank can we put in this room." My dad is getting back into fish now too, though he kept one lone feeder goldfish alive all this time in a 40 gal which I think is funny. It's pretty good size! He says you can never leave the hobby completely. I think the planted tanks have caught his eye and when I told him about freshwater shrimp he got all excited and started talking about my inner aquarius is showing... haha
So my collection of water vessels and dwellers begins (again) and I am happy to have found ya'll!
