New to the forum - low tech, lots of fish
Hi all! I've spent a lot of time reading through these threads, so I thought I'd finally join the conversation.
After taking about 10 years off the hobby, I'm back in, deeper than ever. Currently I have two planted tanks: a 29g tall community and 5g cube with a betta. My community tank is maximally stocked; despite knowing better, I couldn't help myself. The crown jewel is my male dwarf gourami named Princess. His subjects include: 2 female dwarf gouramis, 8 neons, 3 platys, 3 corydoras, 2 ottos, and a mystery snail. Plants include: moneywort, dwarf sag, red sword, green sword, Vals, anubias nana, cryptocoryne, dwarf lily, and water lettuce. The water lettuce is a new addition, which required a second light. I am still learning about maintaining this plant. As soon as I added the water lettuce, Princess began furiously building a nest, and a few days later I happened to catch a video of them spawning. As of writing this, it's been about 36 hours since I saw the spawning, but I have no idea if there are any hatchlings. If there are, it's doubtful any will survive in this tank, but it was very cool to see, nonetheless.
I couldn't get the video to upload here, but if you're interested, it's on my IG @forgottenfork. I don't post much there, so it's easy to find.
I don't use CO2 or fertilizers. Substrate is Eco Complete in the 29g, Flourite Dark in the 5g. Both tanks get a little bit of natural light.
Thanks for letting me join the community!
