The Once and Future Aquarist

I was 14 in 1969.
I received a 10g tank for Christmas.
By March, I had convinced my parents and we open our towns first aquarium shop -eventually ~60 tanks.
By 1972 as the character John LaRoache would later say in the movie "Adaptation" ....[I was] "done with fish".
Though successful and mildly profitable we sold the shop and it continued another another half dozen years or more.
Haven't touched a fish since.

Before finishing college, I developed a passion for plants, gardening, cultivated and wild herbs, perennial and wild flowers etc., mainly via conversations with my grandmother and a slide show by a local biology professor.
It has continued in fits and spurts for 40+ years.

Then a few months ago, I went to Petco to fetch an aquarium to house my rag-tag band of orchids for the winter.
I started designing an orchidarium/ paludarium for a new house the family is moving to in the Spring.
I stumbled across SerpaDesign.
Then Josh Sim.

Now I'm growing an emersed C. wendtii in my home office.
We are adapting.

Welcome to TPT!
Be careful--- that return often results in multiple tank syndrome- lol!
This hobby has branched out in many fascinating directions since you left it- as you can see with those amazing terrariums and aquascapes.
Keep us posted on where your return takes you.

Thanks, Discusluv.

MTS can strike anyone, but I have a proven predisposition so it's not something I take lightly.

SO,SO Much has improved over the years, breeding, available species both fish and plant, the explosion in salt-water, and fish-keeping technology.
Quite fascinating.

I'll be careful.

Thanks, Fisherman.

Aroids rock!

Of all things I thought I'd lost it yesterday.
I left its humidity cover off for a couple of hours and it was quite droopy when I discovered.
But it bounced back..

I'm looking forward to doing dirt when I actually get 'round to putting water in my tank.
