planted aquarium cornhole project

We bought a plain raw wood cornhole set last fall and I just got them out to prime and paint today. Not quite sure what I'll do to mine (my girlfriend and I each get to decorate one board), but mine will be planted aquarium themed. I primed all surfaces with exterior primer and sanded. We got exterior paints in red, yellow, blue and black and will mix our colors as needed. Should be able to create a full palette from that. I've taped off a stretch to accentuate the path to the hole since it makes playing much easier. This is going to make designing it trickier, but having played on a set with no path I feel like it needs to be done. Any ideas or thoughts appreciated. I'll update more as I progress on this thing.

you could paint some of the things in your tank making it look like a high tank instead of a long tank. The lines could be air-stone bubbles

I thought of that! Might still actually. Or at least make it something that will guide the eye without messing up the "art." Here's where I am so far. Once I pull the painter's tape, there will be a 2" white stripe, so might go a color with that once finished. Plants so far are Val (lol, the easiest), Anubias nana, an EI 2009 (will color it and the rest in later), Madagascar lace, and some Salvinia minima as floaters. Will add some shrimp and plants when this all dries. I was a bit overzealous painting this much without regard to drying time.

I'm probably rushing adding livestock to this so soon but got the red paint out this morning and couldn't help myself. I'm going to add black eyes once this red dries but I had to pile the red paint pretty thick to make it show. Still not crazy about where I pulled the tape but worst case scenario I can paint the whole thing over.

Added a betta. Would like to think of 1-2 more things, probably should have added some driftwood from the start. I'm inclined to call it done outside of tightening up lines on the stuff I've already painted.

Are you going to clear coat it to keep bags from wearing off the art ?

My wife says if I get one more aquarium she is going to leave me . I sure am going to miss her fried chicken .

I have thought about it but worried it will be too slick. I could put a layer of marine varnish on it if it seems to be wearing, just have to see. It wouldn't hurt my feelings too bad to do it over again down the road either. Having done this much, I've learned a few things I would do differently if I had it to do over.

I looks great, you did a good job. Now you need the little beanbags to be in the shapes of fish

Well, I walked into my wife's art room to look for something and see that she's been working on her board. Think I have an idea what it's going to be.

And small detail art is kinda lost on these things anyway. Here's my board from roughly regulation tossing distance:

You have to be pretty close to make anything out:

Do you think she'll make it Ms Pac Man? In my humble opinion, when it comes to all the Pac Man games, Ms Pac Man is the most fun. Either way, it's a great idea

I would bet money it's Ms Pacman, that's her favorite as well.

It's great for your opponent though. Relax them to throw them off their game
