Talking Hi! Very New To Fish Tanks

The last time I had a tank I was around 7 years old. I had a 10 gallon with 1 discus(and many a goldfish that died quickly) and my parents did not know what they were doing! I feel bad for that poor little fishy that it was cared for so bad, it lived for 4 years in horrible conditions!

This time around I'm not letting them get anywhere near my tank I'm using that same 10 gallon for a couple small fishes and some cherry shrimps. I'm still in the process of setting it up and everything is very confusing but im determined. I really want a dwarf hair grass carpet and a java moss wall with some manzanita wood but we see how that goes >_> <_<

Very excited to get my tank cycled and get my fish and plants. Finally joined the forum after lurking for a month lol. All the information is so helpful! Any helpful info to know for a noob would be greatly appreciated

PS: Idk how forum formatting works so bear with me

Hi there and welcome to TPT! I'm assuming you have heard of the magic of aqadvisor? If not, that is a great place to start for picking fish for your tank.

Do you know what kind of filter you have on your tank? Tell us a little more about the light and heater you have too

From there we can help you get started right.

Good luck, and you have certainly come to the right place!

May all your algae get eaten, and all your scales be slimy.

Whoa! Didn't know about aqadvisor, what a cool website :O

I've got a penguin biowheel 150, I might of gone overboard but already bought it :P Im planning to add my own media instead of the cartridge but I haven't decided what media yet.

I have a aqueon preset heater 50w

I haven't got my light yet but I'm think either the fugeray planted plus cliplight or a beamswork led. I can't afford a light more than 60 dollars

Hello buddy! I'm also new at this stuff, let's help each other out, huh?) I mean, I've had an aquarium when I was little and lived with my parents but that was a big one standing in our living room with a lot of various fish species and decorations. Now, as I moved into my own apartment I bought my own small aquarium. I have some fish already in it and live rocks that I bought on the advice of my friend as they are not only a great decoration but also keep the bobbit worms away. We'll see how long will it stay!
