I bought the pieces and am going to build what you see here for a 22 long: https://imgur.com/a/Da6fxSg

How does the hardscape look? I know it's hard to tell when its not in the tank with substrate yet. It will be focused on the right side and back half of the tank, heading downward to the left. The very left area will be mostly open (except light plants).

The plants I plan on are babys tears on the substrate in the front half, plenty of mosses on the wood and lava rock, bushy plants in between the rocks and some of the wood, and yet to be named stem plants filling in spots in the rear.

Right now I'm wonder if I need more lava rock to fill in the holes the wood makes with its stems, or just fill them with plants. Also wo der what mosses would look best crawling over everything.

I don't know if its the angle of the photo or not, but the six smaller lava rock pieces appear to be in two relatively straight rows which to my eye looks very artificial. I would break that arangement up. If you have access/budget to my lava rock I would get another larger piece to play around with, if you have room add it to the aquascape between smaller rocks. If not then move one of the smaller pieces closer to the larger stone you currently have to make a little formation with those 2 or even 3 smaller stones. Then an empty place of just wood followed by another formation of smaller stones.

Just my two cents, the most important thing is that you are happy with it so ignore anything you don't like.

No that's good feedback. Besides the empty holes the roots create, the left section of rocks wasn't quite right yet either. I figure part of it is due to the lack of subtrate allowing me to bury and angle them differently.

Anyways, I already wanted to pick up a few more so I might do just that.

Also, how do you guys think the depth will be here? As long as what you see is in the back half will it work out and look big? Wondering if I'm missing that dimension here.

Btw can anyone confirm if this driftwood is cuckoo root or not?

Edit: Nvm, it's Branch Wood.
