safe for aquarium?

I live in southeastern Pennsylvania. 2 years ago while trying to get some rocks out of my garden to try carrots (it wasn't super successful. I live near a quarry and it was just a bit too rocky), i unearthed this beauty of a rock. I believe it's quartz but I'm not sure if there is iron in it. I've leaft it above ground in my garden but now that I'm starting a 54 gallon corner, I was wondering if it might be safe enough to put in my tank. If there is iron in it, would that be bad for the tank water? Anyone able to identy what kind of rock this actually might be?

Looks like a granite/quarts.

Put a drop of muriatic acid on it (ace hardware has pure)- if it foams its not good. But a sure fire way to check:
Put water in a bucket and check your water parameters, then drop it in a bucket and check your water parameters 24 and 72 hours later.

I also emailed some of the local universities to see if anyone in geology department will look at it. It's most likely quartzite. I'm concerned about the red, if there is some iron in it. If there is, would that iron be damaging to a planted tank with fish?

The piece I have in my tank looks very similar to that and I have had it in the tank for years and there does not seem to be any issues.

Completely safe. Even though iron and manganese are primarily responsible for pink cast of quartz like that they are so tightly bound up in silicate structure it would take a acid way stronger than anything found in a aquarium to release it.
