And now for something completely different...

I decided to try a simple (temporary) scape with some unusual plant choices. Anybody want to guess what 3 plants I'm using here? Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics.

Java moss, Anacharis and maybe U. gibba?

U. gibba is generally viewed as a nuisance plant.

Very close! It's Anacharis, U. gibbia (bladderwort), and hair algae!! The algae and bladderwort and definitely not plants you'd welcome into a planted tank. The hair algae started growing on a piece of wood in my Spec III when I removed the floaters and the bladderwort was introduced to one of my tanks as a hitchhiker on some plants I received a while back from a forum member (and yes, he did disclose that it could be present). I pulled it out and placed it in an empty vase. It grew into a circular mass.

I just liked the idea of putting together a planted tank with "pest" plants that you wouldn't want in a planted tank. Apparently I'm easily amused.

It's an overly simple scape. I was thinking about wrapping some of the algae or bladderwort around the branches. I just might try that and see how it looks.

UPDATE - Tried it but it didn't look right and made a mess of the tank with bits of algae and bladderwort floating around. Did a quick change to replace the algae with bladderwort as a ground cover, and added a small anubias and java fern. Again, this is just for kicks. Here's a quick pic:
