This is the story of my practically NO tech sorta planted/riparium tank. This tanks has been set up several variations for about a year.
75 Perfecto tank with Black silicone
Custom stand with painted aluminum paneling.
Standard AGA light hood, 1 tube, 50/50 light
Clip on light for "riparium" with 23w 6700k CF Spiral
Odyssea 2x T5HO hung from DIY Conduit hangers.
SunSun Canister filter
Koralia 1 for circulation
Crushed coral Sand(It is what was in there, and my fish are all bread locally in liquid rock!)(my plants are doing just fine in there and I'm not about to tear it down for this no tech tank)
Driftwood collected on "the ranch"
rocks collected from river
4 Giant Danios
1 Pictus Cat
A few temporary fish(a few FM's and a few Buenos Aires Tetras from another tank that is under repair).
Amazon Sword x6(will thin down as they grow)
Riparium has plants that I'm not even sure will thrive in the Riparium. They are still alive a week out....
This tank is really not a planted tank or riparium. The water level is all the way to the top with no lid, the planters are simple shower suction caddy's.
Forgive the pictures, all taken with my Droid.... The java ferns have been in for one month and despite poor lighting and no ferts or co2(I have had high tech tanks in the past) they are putting out plantlets left and right!
Considering the things against this tank(PH, Substrate, lighting!, ferts, etc!) this tank is doing well. I will take a pic once a week to show the riparium plants and the java fern. I am considering a Sword in place of the rocks on right.
I am using PMDD(I know it is outdated.) on this tank as an experiment.
