No 30 Gallon breeders Being Planted!?

good morning all.

I think I found a good deal but wanted some more input.

Seller is advertising a 33 gallon rectangular tank. he shot me an email stating the dimensions which are 36"L x 17"H x 12"W.

Does this sound like a 30 gallon standard or breeder?

i have not taken a look at this tank. I would like to create a planted but I cant find a post that has this tank planted.

Is a breeder tank better for low tech, low light? or the standard?

Thanks,

J

Hey kali, the guy is advertising it as bigger, like 35 gallons, thats why I asked for dimensions. And I am very well aware that you would not know, cuz you go for the BIGGEST and badest Fish Tanks.

Haha, but thanks for the input.

The breeders are 18" deep, this is a standard 30g tank. The nice thing about 36" tank is that there are a lot of great lighting options for the width. The height is a bit short though so tall plants will reach the surface and I would think stem plants would need to be cut back often.

Smaller tanks (20-55g) are fairly easy to go high tech. I'm setting up a new 29g w/ pressurized co2 right now.

B....Feeder, thnx for input and you pointed out something I did not thnk of, the height!

i dont really want to grow things that get real tall, so prolly wouldnt mind having to trim. Not really looking to do so much as what your doing, wish you luck and thnx for input

Both kali and BottomFeeder: What is the next size up that is still 36" but taller?

BTW: i also read that a larger water surface area is better, which would make this one 432 sq inches

It's the tank with the dimensions you mentioned... a 30L. Too tall and not deep enough, IMHO (I have one).

I have a 30 breeder and its dimensions are 30 x 18 x 12 or 13 high, I forget the height but the tank is very shallow.
