25 gallon planted tank

Hello,

I'm new but so far I have found this to be a great group.. This is my first attempt at a planted tank and I'm currently balancing on the steep slopes of a huge learning curve..

Some older photos before I took out a couple of rocks.. I'm liking the more natural look better. And I'm now thinking of taking out the last background rock.

Vwey nice tank. I really love how you have it set up now. Not too surea about the blue gravel though. Plants all look really healthy.

Alright, looking good!

It appears that my plants made the trip ok

I do think that the E. barthii needs more space that that. I have a second one that is bigger. The leaves will want to come down and will hit the glass soon. They are only bent up like this from being rolled up for packaging.

I like how you broke the vals up around the tank a little.

The ludwigia get really tall unless you are constantly pruning it down. At least in my tank. Is this a hi-tech setup with CO2 and ferts?

Also, does the gourami not snack on the shrimp?

Thanks,

Yes I think he snacks on the shrimp.. I have some micro cherry shrimp that hide in the corner. I just took out the last rock.. I like the feel much better.

CO2
Liquid pfertz

I don't like the blue gravel but its what they had the day I set it up??

How tall do you think it will get? Twice what it is now? I think I will move it to the back left of center.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I had actually no idea until I googled it...

Looks like it may grow rather large

The history of this plant is rather sad. I had no idea I had it from before my Hi-tech days. Around Christmas last year I upgraded my lights, which turned my tank into a wild algae farm in less than a month. This was about the time when i discovered this forum and became wiser with every post I read. Anyway, about 2 months ago I moved a small piece of driftwood and discovered two rather small sword plants hidden behind there.
I moved them front and center and voila, a few weeks later they were kicking into high gear. You have the smaller one. It was getting a lot less light than the bigger one, so I expect it to get bigger still.

I use tinypic.com a lot of people use photobucket and other sites...You upload the pictures there and the site provides you with a link that you can just paste into your post.
Just make sure the resolution is 1024x768 or less. Also if you post a lot of pictures make sure you put a 56k warning into the title for people that use modems.

People still use modems?!?

Tank looks good. What are the specs on the tank? Lighting, CO2, Ferts, etc?

Cool tank! Looks like you're onto something good. I actually thought the Buddha and the rocks in the back were pretty cool!

Your photography is great btw. The shrimp and gourami pics are awesome!

Lighting- 55W CF 6500K 9am to 5:15pm. Plus another 15W 3500K that is on 7:15am to 9:15pm.

CO2- 68 bubbles per minute.

Ferts- Trying Pfertz. I had been using Plant Care solutions 0-0-5 but read that it (excess iron) might have been the cause of my fine hair algae.

I wish I had started out with a proper substrate but I honestly was simply putting some fish in the tank we found at the neighbors garage sale. I have two year old twins that love the fish tank at the library.

I have had several cichlid tanks over the years but I never had any plants.

New layout. I burried the blue gravel in sand and added some moss to the rocks

I added Cardinal Tetras
