New comer, Krustys tank.

Hello everybody my name is Krusty and this is the beginning of my 55 gallon planted tank. I had a particular look in mind, and the only way to obtain it was to build it! I apologize in advance for rough pictures, they get better as construction went on.

Tank specs-

55 Gallon
GLA GRO-1 CO2 Regulator w/5 gallon tank.
CaribSea Eco-Complete, Black
EHEIM Classic 250 External Canister Filter
Finnex FugeRay Planted+ Aquarium LED Light Plus Moonlights, 48"

From the start, some materials and lumber..

The start of the framing, the ideas were taken from online users and Youtube videos. Special tanks to "The kind of DIY", hes been particularly helpful. https://www.youtube.com/user/uarujoey

another layer of reinforcement,

The majority of the trim work was then applied, along with the flooring.

Then the top decking was added. As seen in the picture the boards extend the length of the framing. I wanted a unsupoorted floating board to provide myself with a small shelf in front of the tank (5" inches). The wood was i believe of variety of locus wood.

A few layers of stain was then added. I used "bleached beach wood" for the lower base and flooring, then a "dark cocoa" was used for the locus wood. At this point I also had made the custom light bracket..

At this point the current project is to complete the cabinet doors, get a black backdrop for each corner to hide the wiring and to continue cycling the tank.

New comer, Krustys tank.

Hello, looks good so far. Are you satisfied with the one canister filter on your 55 gallon? I use the same Eheim 250 on a 20 gallon, CO2 w/ in line heater and the 250 runs wide open.

So far the canister is holding up to the 55's demands. It was designed to handle a 60gallon setup, however its only been a two weeks so i hope it maintains lol.

By the way, what does fauna mean?

Quick plant update,

At this point the tank is stocked with mainly fast growers, the list of plants include

Red Nymphaea Rubra
Ludwigia Repens
Vallisneria Asiatica - Jungle Val
Ludwigia Arcuata - Needle Leaf
Dwarf baby tears
Micranthemum 'Monte Carlo' - New Large Pearl Grass
Hygrophila difformis - Wisteria Water Sprite
