First real planted tank

So I have a 29 gallon tank that I just set up. It didn't turn out how I envisioned it in my head, but I figure I can make changes once my plants start growing and hopefully I can get it as beautiful as all the other tanks I see on here haha.

Some of the plants I ordered from someone online, they arrived kinda half dead (not the sellers fault, I live in Arizona) so I had to go out and spend even more money on plants

(My water is super cloudy from just setting up the tank and I literally had just gotten done planting before this pic)

Any input on the rocks in my tank? I'm not quite sure how I feel about them...my idea was to section off the Monte Carlo that I planted in there. But now that the MC is in there I'm wondering if I should've done dwarf hair grass instead.

For anyone wondering, I have a finnex planted+, I am injecting CO2 and I'm dosing with flourish, excel and iron

Any other input or tips are very much appreciated

Sorry for the bad quality pic, I haven't figured out how to upload a pic without it looking horrible!

So now it's just a matter of letting the plants grow a bit to see which do well in your light level/fert level.
I don't really think you would see much of the rocks after the plants in there grow in a bit. Does tend to look a bit artificial right now. But the ones across the back should be hidden
after some growth.

The shortest distance between any two points is a straight line...in the opposite direction...

Wait, the rocks look artificial or the plants? Or the whole tank? Lol.
I'm trying so hard to make sure I'm doing everything right so it can be perfect, but it's not working lol. Some people have a knack for it...I obviously don't have it haha

I think it looks great! My tanks have never been as I envisioned - lol...and I have gone through my share of plants in the last 1-1/2 years. If you're not sure about the rocks, just re-arrange; if you don't like it, you can always put them back.

I think the funnest part of this hobby is everyone's tank is unique...there are so many different ways, so many plants, so many fish...the possibilities seem endless. Just when I think I am getting it, I learn something else.

Maybe add some moss or fissdens on the wood?

Thank you island!
That is very true, everyone's tanks are awesome in their own ways. I'm just upset it didn't turn out how I wanted it to ha. Hopefully it fills out and looks better!
And I'm keeping my fingers crossed I don't get any algae, I really don't wanna deal with that lol

It will look different when it fills in...they always do. I do believe algae is part of the deal - lol..but there is tons of knowledge here to help if it does pop up. It is also common to develop MTS...multiple tank syndrome

Yeah I kinda figured algae was inevitable ha.
I started up a planted 5 gal about a month ago...and here I am just starting up a 29 haha. Surprisingly, I haven't really gotten any algae in my 5. There's a tiny bit on the driftwood but that's about it. I've seen tanks completely covered in it, that scares me haha

Just for the heck of it, here's my 5 gal with my betta
The first one is from last Thursday, and the second pic is a comparison of Thursday's picture to today's. I was very impressed with the dwarf hair grass growth over 4 days lol

Thank you! I wasn't sure about the placement, if I wanted it on the side or in the middle haha. I may still change it up I'm not sure
