My first planted tanks

Well figured I should start one of these.

Its my first time doing a planted tank and so far so....murky?!

Hardscaped and filled the tanks yesterday, forgot to wash down the substrate so I ended up tearing them down and starting over today. Unfortunately I think i lost 4 of the 5 snails I had in the larger of my two tanks. The good thing is I got them for free since they were small pond snails and I only have them to breed them to feed to the dwarf puffer (if i can find one) when i get it.

Both thanks still havent fully settled but here are my tanks!

2.5 Gallon Tank

Just going to be used for snail breeding and possibly a shimp tank
Only has some java moss, a piece of driftwood, a rock and anarcharis in it.

Im running a red sea mini filter and I think im going to get a hood for it, im unsure what to do with lighting currently

5 Gallon Hex Tank

This will be for a dwarf puffer, if I can find one, I cant seem to find them close to me and possibly and otto and snails.

So far I have a piece of driftwood, some anarcharis, java moss, java fern and a banana plant. Oh and current resident is a whole one snail that I know of.

The filter came with the tank (its an old tank), and im hoping to throw some shrimp in for an extra clean up crew.

I think I need a better bulb for the tank. Any suggestions?
