40gal planted setup Chonhzilla * LOTS O PICS*

Skip this first paragraph if you don't want to read my story:

Ok here I go again. Its been a really long time since I've started a new thread. As some of you know I used to have a 29g planted with exodon tetras. It was cool for while until they started to go after my otos. I new very well that they were basically tiny little piranhas. So I had to get rid of them. At this point I was still very new to planted tanks and literally knew nothing at all but plants need need CO2. Fast forward I got a nice shiny light and some nice fish but lots of algae.

Then I finally ended up here. I apologize for not having build pictures because my harddrive decided crash. Anyhow. I do have some progress pictures I manage to save.

Light:
Coralife 2X65 watts

CO2:

Filtration:
Cascade 500 + Eheim 2232

Heater:
200W Stealth Heater.

Substrate:

My fish love me!!

Three weeks after setting up. 03-31-09

I was't planning on adding drift wood but I couldn't pass this piece up for 20 bucks.

In the last picture it looks like the tank goes on forever. Great depth and that's an awesome piece of driftwood.

I tried my best to make seem like that....hopefully I can get some shots of the tank to compliment the depth of a 40 breeder.

That piece of wood really compliments the tank design. Great find. Is that mesh on the back wall? Planning a moss wall?

Very nice! I also like your signature picture.

Without Algae, death of mankind would be inevitable.

Quick Update!

I recently added 10 lampeye's and managed to find a banded darter in a tank full of feeders and added him to the family.

I did a recent rescape and got rid of the dwarf sag ( that stuff spreads like a wild fire!) and moved the blxya around and got rid of a few them too. I kinda like the look with and bare floor. Also attached some fissidens fontanus.

Great looking 40 breeder! I have a planted 40br with about 22 Embers. Glad to see someone with a school double mine! That driftwood is awesome too.

Thanks.

Yeah the embers are really friendly, always begging for food. Plus they are so curious they swim into the palm of my hands when I got it in the tank. Awesome little guys.

The lampeye's are neat too. Still a little shy but starting to warm up a bit to me considering they have a small school following the ember's around. But during feeding time they come right up to me just like the embers do.
