Hippie's Amazon Inspired Nature 20g

Hi...

So i thought I'd start a journal as i re scape my current tank

The tank is a 20g long, which was my first foray into aquariums. for a while it lived a long life as a lava rock iwagami with a glosso and hair grass carpet. It was pretty to look at and all but it was boring to watch fish just sorta loaf around it. So I ditched all the co2 and lighting crap and downgraded.

The orginal plan was to start a Rio Nanay biotope, but i couldn't live without some plants, so the tank is kinda just Rio Nanay inspired for now.

So i threw all the fish in the angel fish tank and ripped everything apart

found a stump and cut it up till it looked right, then threw it in with some sand and junk...

I don't have a great shot of the tank yet filled, so for now these cell phone shot will hopefully do.

(the wood up in the clamp is soaking for latter...)

At this point i found the black skirt tetras a new home as they didn't fit into the biotope deal, and added in some dwarf pencil fish to hang out with the preexisting false rummy nose tetras.

One of my bigest modvators to get rid of the glosso carpet was to have another home for some cool plecos, so far a L340 has taken up residence despite not completely fitting in with the biotope, soon a l333 or l15 might end up in the tank though

Thanks for looking , and ill try to break out good camera soon so everything isn't shot with a cellphone.

Bump: here's a better FTS not taken with a potato:

Cool tank. Really like the photo of the black widows hovering under that branch. Looks super natural. Any photos of the pencil fish?

also messed with the tank some, so here is a FTS

also increased the stock some, i wanted some sort of focal point fish but couldn't decide, apistogrammas fit the bill and were native, but i sorta hated how ostentatious they were, don't know why but I've always been more of a fan of drab fish. However when i came across this dude everything changed, his fins aren't too insane looking, and his body coloration is similar enough to pencil fish that i decided he needed to be into the tank...

Also added in a new pleco, threw in some floaters, and let tannins run a muck in the tank.
