ADA mini-s project

So tomorrow I'm gonna pick up one of the ADA mini-s tanks from my lfs, as well as some aquasoil amazonia

I'll be picking up bits and pieces as I go, and the only things I can think of so far that i'll want in the tank is some Petite Nana and either Micro Rasboras or Exclamation Point Rasboras (both are about 0.75")

If I can come up with a hardscape by tomorrow I'll put up a picture

I've seen a couple guys here using the same light for their mini-s tanks,

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25...u/IMG_0258.jpg

what kind of light is this? and where did you guys get them? both are listed at 28watts so i'm assuming they are the same one

and does anyone have a heater to recommend?

I had the flat hydor one, and i hated it to be honest. it was in my 3 gallon eclipse tank and i got home in shock to a bad temp spike up in the high 80's

I've seen/heard about some heaters that are preset at 77 or 78 with automatic shutoffs..but haven't seen any of these online. Hopefully my lfs will carry one that doesn't look too obtrusive

Ah, the Archaea light. I could have sworn i had read that somewhere, is it just me or is 75 bucks still seem pricey for a light? curse this hobby...

Midknight,

If I get the Micro Rasboras it'll be from Aquatic Warehouse. That's where I'm picking up the tank and stuff too, I really dig the store.

My friend uses aquabid to get some of his stuff which is where I might have to go for plants if Aquatic doesn't carry everything I want, and that's probably where I would have to get the Exclamation Point Rasboras

ah, true

but don't we all want to spoil both ourselves and our fish?

I have a Current Satellite 40W light for my 10gal, I think I'll get the 18W which is the same length as the mini-s and build a stand for it. they have a really awesome LED light that spotlights the center for when it's lights out at night and it probably keeps the fish more comfortable because it simulates moonlight

you'll need more than 18W for high light plants. www.catalinaaquarium.com look at the 12" PC lights there

the only thing I'm sure that won't be Ada is the filter, I mean don't get me wrong, the Super Jet Filters are DOWNRIGHT SEXY but I'm not spending 500+ on one, and the smallest size is meant for the 60p tank

AFA recommends the eheim 2232, and it says the hose size is 12mm so does that mean it'll fit the lily pipes?

ya, i was just there today. i believe they have that fish label under micro rasbora Brigitte

I have roughly 15~20 of those. the only reason i don't know how many anymore is cause they are hiding in my 55 gallon tank somewhere. How many of those are you getting? I don't know if they are still doing the deal, but i got mine for 99 cents each. That assuming you buy 10+.

As for plant, check out pet kingdom, i know they just restock on plants earlier this week. I was just at PK and AW today.

I have a full ADA setup and love it. Well worth the Cash spent. I have the Mini M and the Mini Solar. Can't go wrong with that setup.
