A very relaxed 20H

This tank is 3 years old, but I think the only original stuff in it is the substrate, the java ferns and the crypts. The tank has been mostly neglected for the past year or so... I've been feeding the fish 4 or 5 times a week, adding fertilizer once or twice a week, and only doing a water change if I was having a party or something... So anyway, I had a good long think over whether I want to keep the tank or not, and I do. So, I'm going to be taking better care of it from now on!

To kick off this new era, I got a new Marineland double bright led light and a glass hood. (I previously had a single florasun fluorescent bulb, which I've kept and can put on the front of the tank if it seems I need more light... But I don't want to get into co2...) I pulled out a big tangle of mostly-brown moss and planted some of the bigger watersprites (which had all just been floating around.) So now I'm watching to see how things react to the new light, planning more plant cleanup, and gearing up to change 3 gallons of water every week or two.

Stuffs:
Aqueon filter that came with a 10 gallon, green scrubby for the media
I think the heater's 100w
Marineland double bright led fixture, 24-36" model
Haven't settled on a photoperiod yet
Can't remember which substrate I got. I also wonder if it's too deep.

Flora (id help and corrections appreciated!)
Anubias
Bacopa
Cryptocoryne
Java fern
Rotala?
Watersprite
Bits of moss
Possible hygrophila of some sort

Fauna
1 female swordtail
1 female platy
Hitchhiker snails
Betta added 02/15

I really want to get my plants growing well enough to offer some roaks!

Moved the driftwood, planted most of the floaty bits, moved the betta in

I think it looks pretty uninspired at the moment, but hopefully the plants will grow and fill up all that space. I wonder if I have enough light now to put a vallisneria in the foreground.

So we had a family field trip to the lfs because it's March and it's snowing. I wanted some plants and maybe some algae eaters.

Ended up bringing home:
Valisneria (I really need to look up the right spelling...)
Hygrophila difformis (wisteria)
A pleco. I meant to get a bristlenose, but I'm not at all sure that's what I ended up with...
Two amano shrimp
A pair of swordtails
And the African dwarf frog the kids wanted

Algae is going nuts. I noticed when I had hygro diff. before, algae didn't like to grow near it, so I hope it makes a difference. I also really hope my pleco is a useful type and not a monstrous pain type
