20 long journal

So I just picked up a 20 long.
I plan on turning it into a shrimp breeder. right now i have my rcs in a 10 gallon. but who knows. it may become the dario bario, or I may upgrade to CRS
I like the length of the 20 l plus it's not too tall so light will penetrate good

I plan on building my own Stand and hood.

substrate will be eco complete pretty deep

Want to go high light so maybe 65 pc or some t5s or something. Not really sure. Looking for advice on lights I dont really like the yellow tint of 6700k

Filter will be marineland c160 or 220

pressurized co2 with diy reactor

Not really sure on plants either.
I know I want HC as carpet and maybe fissedens on some wood.

will post pics once i get something started, right now its just a glass box. not too much to show.

any advice is greatly appreciated !

I have two of the coralife NO T5 fixtures above my 20 long, with all 4 bulbs going I think that qualifies as high light.

http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS...lestriplight30

18 watts each bulb, 4 bulbs in 2 lamps, that's 72 watts over 20 gallons and in my opinion these things are brighter than the equivalent wattage CF bulb so that's aprox 4wpg.

The only drawback is the lamp choice. 10K, 6700K, or colormax. IMO one colormax with two 6700K (I only run 3 bulbs) looks decent. I wish I could get 5000K bulbs, I prefer the way the lower color temp brings out the reds.

I was thinking on doing 4 t5s,
10,000 k is a bluer look right or whiter light?

in my 29 gal i have a 6700 and 7100 the 7100 is totally blue so it gives off a cool look

10000K is more blue, but it also depends on the brand. While the color temp is a good guideline one brands 10000K can look different from anothers.

To me the 6700's from coralife are quite white/blue and the 10000K are way too blue ... very hash to look at and all the red colors are washed out.

yeah, I noticed that some 10000k bulbs look pink and some look white.
I'll have to investigate more

Been kinda stagnate for a bit.
So i painted the back of the tank black and now i'm getting started.
i have decided to just buy a stand and diy my own canopy in the future.
i ordered the t5s from big als
and am ordering filter today.
Once it's on the stand and the lights are in it will happen pretty quick.
