Saga of a new stand.
I have been thinking about buying/building a stand for my 35 gal. for some time now. My son-in-law found a damaged/open box one in Petsmart on sale from 199 to 50, WOW. So now I have to plan the move of my tank. First I guess I should clean the filter (running for a year now, see post on no clean canister filter), which I did, it really wasn't that bad. set it back up on the tank and sat down to watch TV. About 10:30 pm, I heard a "plink" (plinks are never good when it comes to aquariums) so I go investigate. Three of the four plastic clips that hold the top on had snapped off, and water was spraying out. I only lost about 5 gallons of water (really didn't loose it, I was standing in it). Better get out the shop vac. but its full of sawdust. While dumping that I dropped the bag and sawdust was everywhere, oh well, water first. In about an hour it was all cleaned up, time for a brown pop. So I maked new latches, drained the tank down to about 15 gallons and a friend and I moved it. It is now refilled and looks great. See att. picture on left is new brass clip to hold top of canister filter, on the right is the new stand (it only had one dented corner)
