Alright. I haven't been too active on here for the past couple of years. Been pretty much focused on keeping plecos, earth eaters, and pikes. As well as being very busy with running the store. Only planted tanks I've kept in recent times has been some super simple little nano ADA/Fluval shrimp tanks...
But the time has come to downsize a little bit on the personal tanks and I have decided that one of the tanks I will keep will be a classic dutch planted tank.
Here are some previous incarnation of the tank I will be using...
Will probably get rid of the blue back ground first. Switch it over to black.
Here is the equipment list for the build...
- 100g Tank (60x18x21)
- 4x Radion XR15 FW LED units
- 10lb CO2 system with Milwaukee style regulator and inline diffuser
- 2x Aquatop CF500UV canister filters
- 2x Ehiem Jager 200watt heaters
- 8x 15lb bags of Flourite
- MP40 Vortech ciculation pump
- Custom metal frame stand.
- PH Controller for CO2 system
I know a lot of people on here swear by T5 lighting. Especially for a dutch style tank. But I really really want to play with the new Radion freshwater units. I thought what better way then a classic dutch tank packed with beautiful stems!
I need to decide on the mounting system for them still...
And yes I want to possibly throw a MP40 on there =) I don't plan on using it for the power but the countless possibilities for flow pattern. MP10 would do just fine but isn't rated for the glass thickness of my tank.
Right now it's on a cheap marineland stand that has seen better days. Might get a custom metal stand made for it. I want a bare bones look with all the equipment exposed but very neatly setup. Thinking of something similar to this...
I will be starting process of moving out the fish tomorrow. Some will be sold and some will be taken to my store. After that the tank gets a super cleaning and I get to break my arm scraping off the blue back ground.
Let the fun begin!
