5.5 gallon Planted Betta build.

I'm putting together a 5.5 gallon tank to house a Betta. I want to lightly plant the tank and built a mini 3d background for it. So far I have the tank, background, and the cabinet/stand I'm building from reclaimed Cyprus wood I got off a job site. It'll be a table/desktop tank. My first question is about light. I was thinking of building my own CFL light in the top I'm making. Or I was going to get a finnex stingray. What does everyone think?

I'll let you know how the stingray looks when I get mine.

I really think I might end up going with the stingray, the cost won't be too much more than building the light fixture I had in mind and might save me from having heat issues inside the lid.

It would be a good choice. BTW I really like the enclosure. Any more pics of it?

This is the only other pic. I'm still building the lid.

Thumbs up

I love the stingray on my wifes 5.5gal
Might wanna go with 2 eventually for higher light plants or if they will be more than 12" from substrate. I only keep anubias with mine so its kind of overkill. Also, if going with the stingray, id look into a rgb led bulb/socket if you want a night view or just get a fugeray. The Stingray only has one button. On/off, no blue only.

Looks fantastic btw. Very impressive!

My stingray is great for my 7.5 cube, so I think you'll like it.

Great job on the custom display. It's rare to see something so original with the nanos these days, so kudos to you.

I'm a fan of LEDs and the stingray, I'd go for it! That is a pretty neat set up. It is pretty cute actually. haha

Update:
I finally got a chance to finish the lid to my enclosure. I also got a couple coats of laquer on the thing so it looks good to me! Ordered my light, the stingray so it should be here soon. I also got the ok from the wife to set the tank up(found a space). I'll start setting it up and cycling as soon as the light gets here or I have time.
