Nano Shrimp Start Up! Advice wanted!!
First post here at the forum. I joined because I am really excited to get into planted tanks. I am starting small with hopes to work my way up (limited money and space). So I thought I would start out by listing some of the equipment I have and getting a feel for what everyone thought. I am on a very very limited budget.
So here goes:
I am planning on using a 5.5 gallon standard tank that is currently housing my carnival-won hermit crab (couldn't help getting him out of there, it was a death trap). I am relocating him to a plastic container.
I also have:
- two desk lamps with screw in CFL (the small ones made for hoods). Or a 12" piano light that will hold a singular T8. But the CFL are really bright despite their very low wattage.
- a general air pump rated for a 10 gallon tank
- a two sponge filter, delivered tomorrow
- Oil-dri or PFS, not sure which to use? PFS seems easier and prettier.
- All-glass aquarium top
Now I know I am missing some stuff, check valve, tubing, decor. I am planning on having RCS. I want a very natural look. This is meant to be a beautiful tank that doesn't require too much effort. I am open to any and all advice. Thanks!!!
