Red face 15L Shrimp Tank- Tank Journal - 1st Journal

Starting up my 15L at my new apartment. Going to set it up for shrimp this time. Stocking from my 29.
I am going to be placing the tank on a piece of slate to protect the cabinet. There is also a layer of 'yoga mat' material underneath the tank. Can anybody see any problems with this?

I really like the slate as a tank coaster! I have an extra tile from some DIY that would fit perfectly under my new Spec. I might just have to try it. Thanks for the inspiration!

Absolutely GreenNinja! Glad to be of assistance.
I think the slate should be level enough to support the tank properly. I started with substrate yesterday and messed a little bit with the hardscape. I'm really struggling with this hardscape. Usually they come to me pretty quickly, but this is proving difficult... any suggestions are appreciated!

I like the placement in #2 best. Maybe slide the rock forward towards the front left corner (as you face it) and lean the driftwood just a bit more? You could train some moss up it for visual interest.

I am going to play with it a little more today, I may have to omit the driftwood. I want to incorporate it, but not sure if there is room...

UPDATE: 11/14/14

I messed around with the hardscape a little and decided to eliminate the driftwood. Tried a couple of pieces of petrified wood in conjunction with the lace rock.

Will this scape allow for a feeling of depth once filled in with plants?
Any suggestions for plant selection? I need a solid background plant to fill it all in...

Update: 11/21/14

Planted a Sword and added some more Anubias. Tank was cycled, so I slowly began adding some of my yellows.

Flash:

Still trying to figure out what plants to add. Need.More.Plants.
