Thumbs up jcardona1's 55g Aqua Forest: 1/21/09 OVERHAULED!!

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After months of waiting and growing my HC emersed, this thing finally has water! Sorry, my pics aren't the greatest, but they'll have to do! The tank has been full of water for almost a week now. I think so far everything is going good, I've seen just a little bit of the HC melt, not sure if it will get worse. I've been dosing with Excel everyday as an additional carbon supplement and I've started getting a little BGA.

As you can see, the water is still a little cloudy. I'm sure it will clear up after a few more days. Now its just time to wait and see what happens. Hopefully this stuff survives and doesn't melt off completely cause I'm not sure I wanna start all over! And hopefully I can keep the algae in check when it starts to bloom.

So, this will be my ongoing thread from now on. Feel free to post any comments/questions you may have. I've tried to included all the details and specs on my tank below. Enjoy!!

Thanks for the compliments, really appreciate it! It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do with the hardscape, but I'm happy with the result

very well done. a nice iwagumi layout, although i think you could have dome a bit more sloping and hills to give it a bit more depth interest... but thumbs up from me. sometimes simplicity can be beautiful.

Me thinks they is Rasbora.

Awesome tank, can't wait for it to fill in completely. Nice addition of the Koralia pumps, they create such an awesome natural flow in just about any aquarium!

BTW, this is more of a personal opinion so plz feel free to take it or leave it. Some red cabomba in the back corners would really add depth to the tank (not that it isn't already interesting and beautiful). A flash of red would go well with the green, black, and stone. Just about anything that gets some height would be a nice addition plus it might be able to cover the pumps. But like I said if you left if the way it is it would still be awesome, just something I would probably do if it were my own aquarium.

Great looking tank!!! Especially for a first! Its missing a little something in the background for depth, just cant put my finger on it. The second it comes to me ill let ya know.

Are those swords/hair grass get much bigger? If they do then it will probably look great when they do. If not you could a get nice incline effect by putting a slightly larger species of the same type of plant behind them or just behind the rocks. IDK just play around with a few plants until your hands get wrinkly. =]
