26 gallon Bowfront First Attempt

Well I have decided to start my first planted tank. I previously had a couple of goldfish in my 26 bowfront and had a couple of plants that they immediately annihilated. After the last goldfish passed away I knew I wanted to do a planted tank with a bunch of small tropical fish likes tetras etc.
I've done a ton of research and am still pretty confused about a bunch of stuff but I figure I will just start playing with it and see how it goes. (That's what she said)

I purchased the 26 as a kit years ago so I am starting with what I have:
26 Bowfront
Fluval C3 filter
gravel for my substrate
the light hood that came with the tank with 1 15W T8 bulb

Plants:
There are a few that I had with the goldfish but I don't know what they are, I will have to do some online looking, I know a couple were crypts.
I went out and bought a few different lowish light plants
Java Fern, hygro angustifolia
I don't know what the big one in the back left is?
or the smaller spikey grass ones are either, any help would be appreciated.

I left the original gravel and filter media, I did take out the carbon from the filter though. After planting I did a 60% water change and have been watching the water parameters which have been fine.

This weekend I plan on getting a couple more plants, because I can't help myself and a few oto's to take care of any algae.

I've very excited and I look forward to any comments and advice anyone may have.
