190 gallon rimless

Well I guess its my turn to show and tell. Let me first explain that I am not wealthy, nor do I hold any candle to those folks that have fantastic planted tanks. This is the combined effort of several months of gathering materials, begging, stealing and borrowing information and ideas to make this dream happen. I am not at all an advanced aquascaper, This is my 3rd real aquascaped /planted tank (not counting numerous grow out tanks).

Specs:
190 gallon rimless polished edges / Eurobraced 76" X 20" X 30" Bought used from craigslist / completely re-caulked with Ge high grade silicone caulk as recommended in Scolley's thread. (Extreme DIY challenge)
(5) 2" bulkhead holes in bottom glass / reef tank style
(for almost completely hidden filtration a la Tom Barr. )
Filtration: Pentair / Rainbow lifegard / old school canisters with a few add ons- 25 watt UV, fire plug 1000 watt heater module, etc.

Complete auto water changing system with top off valves and solenoids (Thanks to the threads and instructions Scolley and the rest of you auto water changers out there.)
Formica faced stand (looks ok; trust me it repels water)

Lighting: 5' Current Outer Orbit (2) x 150 metal halide, and (4) X 54 HO T5 ((retrofitted for a third 150 metal halide in the center.))
7700K MH bulbs purchased from here.
6500 K 54 T5 HO purchased from here

Lost count of how many bags of ADA aquasoil 1 (12 I think)
ADA Powersand medium
Manzanita driftwood (of course)
Rocks collected locally
(2) Koralia-3 powerheads for water movement.

This is a work in progress; please feel free to critique and offer comments.

Nevermind the narrow leaf on the right side, I put it in there because I had no where else to put it.

Yesterday:

I took almost all of the rocks out and have planted more E Tenellus / Marselia quadrafolia in its place. I plan on moving the E Angustifolious from the front to the mid-section soon.

Thanks for the kind words, I am still learning as I go.

There is a Rex Grigg style CO2 reactor on the left side cabinet that is about 19" long. I tried the 3/4" mazzei injector on the right side inlet but was dissapointed about the ph level not staying where I want it. I dont think I installed it where it would give me the best results.

Thumbs up

Nothing bugs me more than seeing an eye-catching subject such as "190 gallon rimless" that I can't ignore, and then seeing a set-up that merely showcases the weaknesses in my own tank design by showing me how I should have done it in the first place. Very nicely done.

Great job! I'm partial to the rocks myself, but your scape without the rocks looks nice too. I really like the stand. Did you make that as well?

Very nice, how do you like the pentair and current usa light? I have exactly the same setup, just a bit bigger.

Wow, great tank. Cant wait for the water to clear up. Do you have enough light coverage with that light?
