new pics coming soon (when my technology stops breaking. First, the memory card reader craps out, then the camera sync software tries to tell me that i don't have any pics on my card )

I've done a major rescape on both tanks, and the algae is slowly getting under control. I'm running into a snail issue on one of the tanks, but i've reduced the amount of food. I got some new plants from a friend who was rescaping, but threw away most of them (crypts). The others that he gave me had thread algae or BBA (possibly both). My cherry shrimp population has exploded, and i estimate it around 50 head.

So, i moved up to school and found that my dorm room didn't have enough space for the tank to be out in the open. This is what i get for downgrading from an apartment with my own room to the dorms. Anyway, my tank now resides in the bottom of my closet. I just got done trimming my sunset hygro down (i want it to fill in a little more) and cut all the bare stems out of the ludwigia. When i refilled the tank here at school, i did an involuntary rescape when i got frustrated and just dumped water in 5 gallons at a time (i had been unpacking for 4 or 5 hours and was frustrated that all my friends were out partying at 2am while i was unpacking). I actually like what i did with the "rescape", i added a little more character to the terrain. Here's some pics i just snapped:

Can you get a picture of the dinosaur eel because if it's what I think it is then that 29 gallon will be to small for it.

The dinosaur eel is back at home, so i can't get a pic, and i'm aware that the tank is too small for it (i didn't buy it, it was forced upon me by some unfortunate circumstances)... I'm only holding it until i can find it a more suitable home. (it's only about 4" right now)

I figured that i would do a status update on what's going on inside the tank equipment/flora/fauna wise. I'll take more pics in about a week or so.

Flora:

Microsword carpet
Giant Hygro
Amazon Sword
Java Moss
Chain Sword
Sunset Hygro
Red Ludwigia

Fauna:

2x oto - will increase to 4 next trip to the LFS
2x neon tetras - the only two to survive a bout with an internal parasite (i believe). will get more at LFS when they are back in stock
3x white cloud mountain minnows - plan to increase to 5x
~50x RCS - the reason i'll be able to afford additions to my livestock
1x wood shrimp

I'm looking for midground plants to go in front of the sunset hygro, the giant hygro, and the ludwigia. suggestions? Also looking for a background plant to go between the ludwigia and the sunset hygro.

Changes I soon hope to make:

I want my neon "school" go from 2x to about 10x.
I plan on eventually doing some DIY CO2, but don't have all the equipment assembled yet.
I'm still battling some BGA and Brown Algae. I'm trying to grow the java moss to crowd the algae out. It's working fairly well, but there are some stubborn parts.

Hehe that is funny that you have a fish tank in your closet. You must really want one bad to do that.

My planted tank. 55 gallon fluorite substrate over soil, 64 watts of light, excel twice a week. Weekly water changes. Angelfish pair, guppies, BN plecos and otos. Redone 11/13/2012
One non planted tanks. 75 gallon.

dam man, i feel your pain. yesterday i moved my aquarium to my dorm and it took FOREVER. we have a community bathroom so i had to drag the 5 gallon bucket back and forth, then i had to arrange all the plants and everything, it was crazy. i can't believe i did it. but my roommate really likes it and it adds a nice sense to the room.
is you're RA freaking out about all those plugs underneath it?
im totally subscribing.

I'm in a mainly graduate dorm, so i've only seen my RA once, and he hasn't ever been in my room. I could have a 75g in my room for all he knows The only problem being that i'd have to sacrifice my bed or my desk for it, and the desk is bolted to the floor.

It's not so much a question of wanting it bad as it is my dad not wanting to take care of 2 tanks back at home. We had a hard time fitting the stand, tank, and all my other stuff in the minivan, and he was there trying to reorganize all that stuff so "that d*mn fish tank will go with you to school so i don't have to do so much of your work"
