New Nannacara, and new scape

Well this poor lil guy(gal?) has been at the LFS for almost 8 months! I have been eyeing him(her?) but never got him. I was in their tuesday and couldnt take it, he was STILL THERE, so I brought him home. He is shy as can be though, only coming out in the evenings, and/or to feed. Also got a few new plants in the mail... so got a new scape.

Nice Nannacara!...poor little thing. I've never seen those locally, and have always wanted a pair, them and Dicrossus filamentosus.

It is hard to tell from the picture if you have a male or female. I have kept nanacara anomala twice. First time was 16 years ago. I got them to spawn a number of times but they kept eating the eggs. Finally got fry by moving the eggs to a small in-tank container. Had to keep an airstone running all the time for current and do constant water changes to keep the eggs from spoiling. Labor intensive but I ended up with about 50 babies. I moved from NY to California on short notice and was really bummed that I never got to see them grow up. Luckily the local pet store had a nice aquarium department (this is where I bought the parents) and the woman who ran it was a fish fanatic. She not only knew quite a lot about fish but had a room in her house dedicated to her tanks and was willing to take all the fry. I picked up another pair here in California 7 years ago when I set up my tank but ended up returning them. The male was huge and quite beautiful but extremely aggressive. Ended up killing a male a. agassizii and wearing out his welcome. Nice fish but if I keep them again it would be in a species tank.

thanks for the compliments everyone. I will try to get a better picture, but he or she is VERY shy as of right now. So far shows no aggression what so ever. Though I will always be keeping my eyes on everyone just to make sure that their is no aggression. Thanks for your input as well captain
