~*~My 10g~*~

Ok well I lost alot of plants through a huge move to sacramento and so starting over has become a pain and it is very bare. My tank has Java moss, Anacharis(which is not doing well), A lotus I got out of a plant package as well as an Onion Plant. I have only a 15 watt bulb on the tank(switched hoods due to algae). I want this to really stay low light/low tech so choices on plants are limited. I dose flourish once a week. Inhabitants of my tank are Wandering Pond Snails, Pond Snails, Malaysian Trumpet Snails, Ramshorn Snails, Amano Shrimp, Flame Tetras, and a betta. Well here is a picture of the tank I need help with lolSorry about the quality.

Well i'm not sure where you wanted help but i've got two pieces of advise.

1) 15w is pretty low but plants are do-able. Just dont expect them to grow quickly.

2) here is a list of some low light plants. Also the search will yield a lot on this subject.

Hope this helps

Thanks. I actually just got a pm from James telling me to look at that thread. As for the lighting it may be a temp until I get rid of all the algae

My main thing would be get some stem plants. I suggest Sunset Hygro or some rotala. They would be great in your tank. Also maybe getting some more moss for the branches and possibly disgarding or moving the onion plant to another tank(which I heard you got a new one ).

Will do. Yes I did get another tank that will probably house fire bellied toads or a tarantula or some sort of reptile.

Here are a couple shots of my Lotus plant:
Flash

No Flash

Does anyone have any thought of why my Flame Tetras tend to hide under my lotus plant?

Here is a vid of my betta, Alesana.

Okay an update not that much has grown but James From Cali brought over a fish magazine and it had this picture in it http://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.or...06/600/375.jpg . So James and I are working together on setting up something similar but using the following plants:

Anacharis
Java Moss
HC
Lotus Plant

And so here is my idea for the layout(which is very similar to the pic above, Sorry no color yet in this one):

Now here is the tank in the beginning of evolvigng into that.
(15 watt strip bulb only)

(Both 10 watt CF and 15 watt bulb)

I will be adding CO2(DIY of course) to the tank next month. There will be monthly updates as this is lowlight!

If the anacaris doesnt die off and takes off it will soon either have to be trimmed daily or it will over run your tank.

Also, hotlinking images from another site ( http://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.or...06/600/375.jpg ) is a huge no-no and can be considered a crime ( theft of services - bandwidth).

Oh yes I know. It will need serious trimming. But that just means that something is going right .

technically, you could grow anacaris in a bucket, but good luck..

Thanks mark. I just figured out how to work james's camera so I have more pics. But I may also have ich. I raised the heat but have no conditioning salt or Aquarium salt. The fish that seem affected are the Tetras. And unfortunately IDK if I could rid it and that means starting completely over which would be a complete strain on me. Here are the pics. First are the tetra with ich.

What kind of eggs are these?

So is that ich on the tetras? Thanks everyone.

looks like it to me. i'd quarantine them QUICK. and treat them before it gets worse. Raising the temp is good, but if you're not treating the ich, it just lets the ich reproduce faster and spread quicker.
