Bex MTS Tanks

Hi everyone,

Wanted somewhere to record my new tank adventures. So resurfacing.

Got a new tank just over 2 months ago having been without for about 9 months, due to a few advantures in the process of setting up this one tank with its original stocking of 8 black neons tetra, a betta and a bristlenose plec in a 10g boyu tl450 freshwater, i have ended up with 3 tanks housing 4 harlequin rasbora in a 4.5 gal hospital tank. 6 tigerbarbs and a bristlenose plec, little s*d that he is, in the 10g boyu and a betta, 8 black neons 2 african dwarf frogs and 2 blue rams in a 10g triple hexagon tank..... oh and a 29g cycling..... ooops

10g Boyu TL450 freshwater

This is a lovely little tank. With the 4 segments in the back being used for foam, ceramics noodles, filter wool and carbon, the water is always crystal clear. It is the first one i got and had it not been for the little blighter called Gilmour would still be my only tank. The branch style scaping was the original set-up and the white the rescape for the barbs to have more swimming room. unfortunatly this may have to be broken down come summer due to oh wanting me to lose one when the 29 has fish and the triple hex IMO being the better option for the fish.

10g Triple Hex

This is a tank people seem to love or hate. I love it. This was an emergency aquisition when i my betta lost half his tail in 3 days you'll be pleased to know Kyle is doing well now. This picture was taken when i first got the tank and had to cobble it together with stuff that came with it and stuff i had spare. Is now in the process of being scaped. I always knew this would be easy to get wrong for stocking and 'scaping, and always considerded it as a triptych, but seeing Dean Barratt's plastic plant aquascape, filled the final holes in the idea and has it now moving in the right direction.
Future plans involve a variety of plants, the ADF's and Kyle moving out to the 4.5 once the 29 is good to go and Gilmore moving in. Potentially... if he is good and doesn;t take another chunk out of a barb.

Filter -
Undergravel

Substrate-
aquarium gravel

Lighting -
3x 18w CFL

Plants -
Tank 1 - Bacopa, Water wisteria, Pygmy Sword
Tank 2 - Java Ferns

29g SEA Biotope

This was only started 7 days ago and not expecting to stock until late april early may time. A South East Asian Backwater Biotope. I have had the tank for a few years empty, but the time is right to get it going. It is in the hallway of our 2 bed flat as you walk in. I want it to be a piece of art as people come in. So the Tiger barbs and the Harlequin Rasbora are headed here. maybe some pygmy cories, but it may have to be Gilmore if his temperament doesn't improve nothing can be near the bottom if he is there. Eventual planting list so far water wisteria a few Cryptocoryne, Nymphaea, Eleocharis. Never done a biotope so bit of research needed.

Filtration -
Eheim Ecco Pro 200
chamber 1 mechtubes soon to be peat
chamber 2 ceramic noodles
camber 3 foam and wool

Substrate -
Play sand

Lighting -
None yet

Plants -
None yet

Stocking -
None yet

Presently cycling with household ammonia

Tiger barbs seem pretty large and active for a 29g.

hi Tzac i should mention it will be a 55+ for the tigers eventually, they were gifted to me by a friend for my birthday last week, completely unexpectedly, hence the 29g got started a week ago. Gilmore was in isolation whilst i figured out what to do with him, i had joked about tiger barbs being the only thing aggressive enough keep with him, so she brought me some to keep them company. So a 29 is the best i can do while i save . Luckily they are very juvi. On which point any idea how long they take to hit full maturity? they are presently around 2cm
