Starting 58Gal (not for 56K)

Here is my 3 days old tank in all its glory:

Tank: 58Gal Oceanic Ultimate - I like its low iron front glass and dimensions - 36x18x21.
Substrate: 3 bags of flourite.
Lights: will have 36" 4x39W T5HO TekLight.
Assorted plants donated by fellow enthusiasts.
Eheim Classic 2215,
Hydor ETH 201 200W In-Line Heater,
10lb CO2 tank with regulator, bubble counter, DIY reactor and a check valve.

Here is a view under the hood:

This is where fun begins:

The TekLight fixture burned three lamps and had to be sent back to manufacturer. In the meantime I am using a 2x 40W T8 shoplight.

See the filter sitting in water - it is leaking at the bottom inlet. It is also much nosier than it used to be when I tested it in the garage.

See the green CO2 tube above? There is a check valve and yes, there is water standing in the tube AFTER check valve - that cheapo check valve is not doing its job.

The plants are doing great though and are pearling:

Even those that I did not manage to plant well:

So my plan is to fix filter, replace the check valve (I already ordered a brass check valve), add 3 more bags of flourite, redo aquascape iwagumi style - plan to go hunt for 3 stones and get RCS over the weekend! Yes, and the TekLight should be back too. Boy, is it fun or what?

Cheers

The stand

The stand is a reinforced 36" Ikea Akurum base cabinet. I reduced its depth from 24" to 18" so that the tank frame sits directly on the cabinet's side and back wall. Stock back wall of fiberboard is replaced with 5/8" plywood. I painted plywood with latex paint to provide at least some protection from moisture and drilled for plumbing.

Tank background is also painted with latex - many layers of it to be exact.

Do you think you could post some pictures of the stand, or how you did it. Because me and my dad are going to be doing the same thing and we need to know how to do it. Thanks
