7 foot, 160 gallon tank, one-day discus tank
I just purchased a 7 foot (yes, 7 foot!) 160 gallon off Craigslist with a stand (which I may not keep, but have another built). It's needing some work (new silicon seals, spray painted frame and cleaning) but otherwise it's in good shape for being used. It has minimal scratches and I can't wait to see it in it's full glory, one day. For now, I will plug away at my 90 gallon. . .the goal is to work at getting all the things ready for this to be running in a few years and have the 2 tanks functional.
The ultimate goal is to make this a lightly planted discus tank. That could change in the future, but it is "the dream." Having had SA cichlids for years, I am aware of the effort and attention these beautiful fish need. Having had a planted tank for a few years now, I have an idea of the direction I want to go. Now it's a matter of time and patience. I just am excited that I have this tank now. . .the possibilities of a tank this size make it all worth the wait
So here are some picture for now. The new tank. . .the inspiration. And my current 90 set-up with tall stand we had custom built. Enjoy!
